Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s directorial comeback, ‘Lal Salaam,’ initially slated for a Pongal 2024 release, may see a delay in hitting the theaters. The film, set to compete with Dhanush starrer ‘Captain Miller’ and Sivakarthikeyan starrer ‘Ayalaan,’ generated excitement among fans anticipating a clash of three major releases.
However, recent developments suggest that the makers of ‘Lal Salaam’ are contemplating stepping back from the Pongal release, with a potential reschedule to January 26. This strategic decision could alleviate pressure on theater owners and offer additional screens for ‘Captain Miller’ and ‘Ayalaan,’ preventing a tough competition scenario with three major films releasing simultaneously.
‘Ayalaan,’ initially slated for a Diwali 2023 release, was later postponed to join the Pongal 2024 lineup. Similarly, ‘Captain Miller,’ originally scheduled for a December 15 release, is now set for a Pongal release. With these changes, ‘Lal Salaam’ is also likely to adjust its release date, pending an official confirmation from the makers.
Directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, ‘Lal Salaam’ stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles, offering a sports drama set against a cricket backdrop. Notably, the film marks a significant return for Aishwarya Rajinikanth, who has also secured the participation of Superstar Rajinikanth in a crucial extended cameo role. The musical score for the film is composed by AR Rahman, and ‘Lal Salaam’ is poised for a pan-Indian release, adding to the anticipation surrounding its eventual debut in theaters.
