In a major showdown at the 2024 Sankranti box office, fans witnessed a clash between two Telugu films, Mahesh Babu’s ‘Guntur Kaaram’ and Teja Sajja’s ‘HanuMan,’ both released on January 12. Amid positive reviews from both critics and audiences, ‘HanuMan’ took an early lead with its perfect blend of entertainment. While Mahesh Babu’s star power initially boosted ‘Guntur Kaaram,’ ‘HanuMan’ gradually surged ahead, captivating audiences with its superhero-themed entertainment.
On the ninth day of their theatrical run (January 20), ‘HanuMan’ continued its successful streak by grossing over Rs 12 crore worldwide. In contrast, ‘Guntur Kaaram’ reportedly earned just over Rs 4 crore on the same day, falling short of expectations for the masala entertainer. ‘HanuMan’ has now crossed the coveted 100-crore mark, with an estimated collection of around Rs 110 crore. Despite ‘Guntur Kaaram’ crossing the Rs 200 crore mark in its first seven days, the film struggled to maintain momentum, resulting in a 9-day box office collection estimated at around Rs 225 crore.
Teja Sajja headlines ‘HanuMan,’ directed by Prasanth Varma, with a stellar cast including Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Raj Deepak Shetty, and Vinay Rai in pivotal roles. On the other hand, Trivikram Srinivas directs ‘Guntur Kaaram,’ featuring Mahesh Babu alongside Meenakshi Chaudhary, Sreeleela, Prakash Raj, and Ramya Krishnan in crucial roles.
