In a recent development, actor Vishal, currently busy with the shooting of his film Rathnam alongside director Hari, is set to embark on his next directorial venture. The buzz in the industry suggests that Vishal is gearing up to helm ‘Thupparivalan 2,’ a sequel to the 2017 mystery detective thriller directed by Mysskin.
Following a successful collaboration with Mysskin in the original film, Vishal is now taking the director’s chair for the sequel, marking his debut in the field of direction. Despite initial announcements in 2019 and a brief pause due to a misunderstanding between Vishal and Mysskin, the project, produced by Vishal Film Factory, resumed in 2020.
The star-studded cast of ‘Thupparivalan 2’ includes Vishal, Rahman, Nassar, Jayaprakash, Gautami, and Suresh Chakravarthi. Renowned music composer Illaiyaraaja has been roped in to create the film’s musical backdrop. Additionally, sources hint at the filmmakers actively pursuing a Bollywood actor to play the antagonist, adding a cross-cultural dimension to the project.
Vishal, who is currently awaiting the theatrical release of ‘Rathnam,’ co-starring Bala, anticipates the film hitting theaters in the summer of 2024. With the shooting for ‘Rathnam’ nearly wrapped up, Vishal is poised to fully immerse himself in the preproduction activities for ‘Thupparivalan 2.’
