Renowned screenwriter Nizam Rawther, aged 49, has passed away, casting a shadow over the impending release of the film ‘Oru Sarkar Ulpannam.’ The sad news unfolded on the morning of Wednesday, March 6, just as the film was gearing up for its theatrical debut this week, following the resolution of the title-related controversy.
Rawther, also a health inspector at Kadammanitta Community Health Centre in Pathanamthitta, had an impressive portfolio, having penned scripts for films such as ‘Zachariayude Garbhinikal,’ ‘Bombay Mittayi,’ and ‘Radio.’ His sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the entire entertainment industry.
‘Oru Sarkar Ulpannam,’ initially titled ‘Oru Bharatha Sarkar Ulpannam,’ faced scrutiny from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The CBFC mandated the removal of the word ‘Bharatha’ from the title for the film to secure permission for its release. Despite reported assurances from the CBFC about the original title, the team opted to comply with the demand to obtain a U/A certification, considering potential financial losses. The film, directed by debutant TV Renjith, boasts a cast including Subish Sudhi, Shelly, Gouri G Kishan, Aju Vargheese, Vineeth Vasudev, and Jaffer Idukki in leading roles. Originally scheduled for release on March 1, the film now faces a bittersweet premiere.
The untimely demise of Nizam Rawther has prompted heartfelt tributes from the entertainment industry, marking the loss of a talented and respected scriptwriter.
