In a remarkably swift legal process, Hollywood actors Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet finalized their divorce within the same week of officially filing court documents. Reports obtained by The Times indicate that the dissolution papers, citing “irreconcilable differences,” reveal Bonet listed their date of separation as October 7, 2020, coinciding with their wedding anniversary.
According to court documents disclosed on Wednesday, Momoa and Bonet have opted for joint custody of their two children—16-year-old Lola Iolani Momoa and 15-year-old Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa. The official termination of their marriage is scheduled for July 9, adhering to California’s mandatory six-month waiting period.
Financial matters between the couple have been settled amicably, with both parties agreeing to share living expenses, and neither obligated to pay child support. Additionally, Momoa and Bonet have mutually waived the right to receive spousal support.
The ‘Aquaman’ star managed to keep the separation private until January 2022, when they released a joint statement addressing their decision to part ways. The statement, shared on Momoa’s Instagram, alluded to the challenges posed by the pandemic and recent social movements, stating, “We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding – and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so – We share our Family news – That we are parting ways in marriage.”
Momoa, most recently seen in the film ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ is reportedly set to reprise his role in upcoming DCEU films, despite the movie’s underwhelming performance at the box office.
