Ashika Ranganath, the popular actress known for her roles in the Kannada film industry, is stepping into a new tradition this Akshaya Tritiya. Growing up, she witnessed her mother’s annual ritual of purchasing gold on this auspicious day, yet the significance eluded her until now.
Reflecting on her childhood memories, Ranganath recalls, “My mom has always been buying something of value for Akshaya Tritiya, but as kids, my sister Anusha and I only knew that it was a special day. It’s only when we started working that we realized why it’s important.”
In a recent conversation, she expressed her love for jewelry, stating, “I’m someone who loves jewelry. So if it looks good on me and I like it, I pick it up.”
However, despite her affinity for adornments, Ranganath admits to never partaking in the tradition until now. She reveals, “I am someone who has never done this before, but this time, Amma and I were discussing and I thought of getting something on this auspicious day.”
Furthermore, Ranganath’s perspective on gold has evolved over time. She explains, “It’s only when my sister got married that I realized you can and should buy gold as a saving.”
Financial prudence is a priority for Ranganath, who discloses, “I don’t have a regular income, so I make it a point to save 10 per cent of my earnings. It’s something I’ve been doing for over a year and a half.”
As she embarks on this new tradition, Ranganath exemplifies the blend of tradition and modernity, embracing cultural practices while adapting them to her contemporary lifestyle.
