In an exclusive pre-emptive deal, Neon has secured the rights to Osgood Perkins’ upcoming genre film “Keeper”, featuring Tatiana Maslany from “Orphan Black” and Rossif Sutherland from “Possessor”.
Under the agreement, Neon will handle distribution in the U.S. and international sales rights at Cannes, while Elevation Pictures will oversee distribution in Canada. The screenplay, penned by Nick Lepard, will be directed by Perkins, with production led by Chris Ferguson and Jesse Savath of Oddfellows.
“Keeper” delves into the story of a couple’s romantic getaway at a secluded cabin, unraveling sinister secrets when one partner abruptly departs, leaving the other vulnerable to unspeakable evil.
Executive producers include Maslany, Marlaina Mah for Oddfellows, Noah Segal, Laurie May for Elevation Pictures, Brian Kavanaugh Jones, Fred Berger, Peter Micelli on behalf of Range Media Partners, John Hegeman, Vince Totino for Wayward Entertainment, and Bonner Bellew for Welcome Villain.
The deal was brokered by Jason Wald for Neon, in collaboration with Range Media Partners, Wayward Entertainment, and CAA Media Finance.
Neon’s acquisition underscores its ongoing partnership with Perkins, Oddfellows, and Range Media Partners, ahead of the release of Perkins’ next film “Longlegs”, featuring Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe, scheduled for a U.S. theater release on July 12.
Maslany, renowned for her Emmy-winning performance in “Orphan Black”, as well as roles in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” and “Woman in Gold”, joins forces with Sutherland, recognized for his work in “Possessor” and the upcoming Fox series “Murder in a Small Town”.
Perkins, the son of Anthony Perkins and Berry Berenson, transitioned from acting to filmmaking, directing horror hits like “The Blackcoat’s Daughter” and “I Am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House”. His recent directorial venture, “Gretel & Hansel”, garnered attention.
Neon’s international sales roster, helmed by Kristen Figeroid, includes Steven Soderbergh’s “Presence”, which premiered at Sundance, and “They Follow”, the sequel to “It Follows”. At Cannes, Neon is set to premiere “Anora” in competition.
