Vineeth Sreenivasan’s directorial venture, ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’, is seeing a slowdown as it concludes its second week in cinemas. Released during the festive Eid-Vishu season, the film collected Rs 85 lakh on its fourteenth day, as reported by Sacnilk.
The movie amassed an estimated Rs 31.93 crore in net collections across India in its initial two weeks. On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the film recorded an overall Malayalam occupancy rate of 19.55%. Impressively, the film’s global earnings have reached Rs 69 crore, with Rs 33 crore coming from overseas collections.
Starring Pranav Mohanlal and Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead roles, ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ also features a star-studded cast including Aju Varghese, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Basil Joseph, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Neeraj Madhav, Neeta Pillai, Arjun Lal, Nikhil Nair, Shaan Rahman, and Nivin Pauly in pivotal roles.
Critically, the film received a rating of 3 out of 5 from ETimes, which stated, “Almost 20 years after Mohanlal and Sreenivasan collaborated on a film about celluloid dreams, titled ‘Udayananu Tharam’, their sons unite for a film on the same theme but with a different ambiance. ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ is a tale of missed opportunities and friendship spanning about 50 years, filled with in-jokes. However, the script, where the two friends have their ups and downs, lacks fluidity. While audiences enjoyed the references to Sreenivasan or the industry, the rest of the humor falls short. It’s also disappointing that there are no prominent female characters. From such a talented team, a more engaging and moving film was expected.”
