In a significant achievement, the latest Malayalam release ‘Manjummel Boys,’ directed by Chidambaram, has joined the prestigious Rs 100 crore club as of March 5. Renowned actor Antony Varghese Pepe, known for his roles in ‘Jallikattu’ and ‘RDX,’ recently shared his praise for the survival thriller after watching it. Taking to his social media platform, Antony expressed his admiration for the film, hailing it as “kidu” (awesome).
In a Facebook post, Antony conveyed his joy at witnessing a Malayalam film gaining nationwide attention. He highlighted the exceptional performances of the cast and emphasized the film’s impact, stating, “This is the movie that will flash through my head whenever I go on a trip.” Antony also humorously mentioned having to redo the stitches on his hand, which came loose due to continuous applause during the climax.
Directed by Chidambaram, ‘Manjummel Boys’ draws inspiration from a real-life incident involving a group of youngsters on vacation, encountering unexpected events. The lead cast includes Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, and Lal Jr. This remarkable achievement further received acknowledgment from notable figures in the film industry, including director Karthik Subbaraj, who praised the film as exemplary filmmaking.
