Renowned lyricist Anand Bakshi, celebrated for his exceptional talent in creating numerous timeless songs, faced a challenging incident in his youth that sheds light on his early life’s resilience and ingenuity. According to details revealed in his son Rakesh Anand Bakshi’s book ‘Nagme, Kisse, Baatein, Yaadein’, Bakshi’s family, alarmed by his mischievous tendencies and burgeoning passion for acting and singing, sent him to a boarding school in Jammu.
During his time at the boarding school, Bakshi cleverly seized an opportunity to join the boxing program, drawn by the promise of a daily glass of milk given to boxers. Despite the strict training regimen enforced by the sports instructors, Bakshi managed to evade their scrutiny by merely donning boxing gloves, ensuring he received his daily sustenance.
However, Bakshi’s luck ran out as his deception was eventually discovered. He was singled out for personalized coaching by a vigilant teacher and faced a severe consequence – a beating that deprived him of the coveted glass of milk.
This incident provides a poignant glimpse into the early life of the lyrical genius, highlighting his resilience and ingenuity in overcoming challenges. Even after his passing, Anand Bakshi’s lyrical legacy continues to resonate in the hearts of millions throughout India.
