Patty Jenkins Offers Update on Wonder Woman 3 and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
In a recent interview with Max’s Talking Pictures Podcast, filmmaker Patty Jenkins shared insights into her involvement with upcoming film projects, including Wonder Woman 3 and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.
Jenkins revealed that the likelihood of another sequel to the DC superhero franchise, Wonder Woman 3, is slim. When asked if the third installment was in development, she responded, “Yeah, for the time being, but probably easily forever.” Jenkins further stated that there are no plans for another director to helm the project, as DC Studios is currently not interested in pursuing any further Wonder Woman films.
The decision to halt development on Wonder Woman 3 came as James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios, implementing their own vision for the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Jenkins expressed understanding for the challenges faced by the studio, acknowledging the complexities of managing such a vast cinematic universe.
While Jenkins won’t be continuing her work with the DCEU, she remains committed to her involvement in the Star Wars universe. Despite the film’s removal from the studio’s release schedule in 2022, Jenkins confirmed that she is actively working on the script for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. She explained that her return to the Star Wars project came about after Wonder Woman 3 was put on hold, and she now owes a draft of the script to Lucasfilm.
Jenkins emphasized her enthusiasm for working within the Star Wars universe, expressing a desire to create something meaningful for its audience. She affirmed her willingness to direct a film in the franchise if given the opportunity.
The interview provides valuable insights into Jenkins’ future projects and her ongoing contributions to both the DC and Star Wars cinematic universes.
