NHK has unveiled an exciting preview of the upcoming anime adaptation of “Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai,” scheduled to premiere this April. The release includes a captivating trailer and a striking key visual. Alongside these reveals, the main cast and the talented team behind the project have been officially disclosed.
Directed by Yoshiaki Kyougoku, renowned for his work on “Laid-Back Camp Season 1-2” and the “Laid-Back Camp” movie, the anime is produced by Pierrot. Yukiko Yamuro, recognized for her screenwriting on “Parasite in Love,” skillfully handles the series composition. Character design is entrusted to Takumo Norita, known for his contributions to “Break Blade,” while Eishi Segawa, acclaimed for his work on “Ushio to Tora,” takes on the role of the music composer.
The cast is led by Mutsumi Tamura, voicing the character Yukiya, and Miyu Irino, lending his talents to portray Wakamiya.
“Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai,” adapted from Chisato Abe’s fantasy novel and the second installment in the Yatagarasu series, unfolds in the world of Yamauchi. Here, the dominant Yatagarasu race sets the stage, and our protagonist, Yukiya, becomes entangled in the intricate web of Imperial Court intrigue as he is chosen to be the attendant of an imperial prince.
Chisato Abe initiated the Yatagarasu series in 2012 during university, becoming the youngest recipient of the Seichou Matsumoto Prize. The first part concluded in 2017, leading to Part 2, with its first volume hitting shelves in 2020. The series has also inspired manga adaptations by Natsumi Matsuzaki, adding depth to its multifaceted storytelling journey.
